How To Add Data To a Chart

extra slideTo add data to a chart, start by double-clicking on it.

dummy-dataOn the left side, you’ll see the chart editor pre-populated with dummy text. The dummy text is there to help you understand how to structure your data for that particular chart type. You will always be able to preview the chart on the right, so you’ll know if the chart looks the way you intended.

editing_menuLike in Excel or Google Sheets you can edit, cut, copy and paste the data by right-clicking with your mouse or using keyboard shortcuts. There’s also a blue drop-down icon in each cell that opens the menu for the editing actions. 

last+tabIf you have longer series of data, you may want to add columns to the spreadsheet. To do this, position your cursor on the last column and click “tab”. 

external_filesYou can also import data from external sources such as your computer, Google Drive, Dropbox, OneDrive and a JSON file. Find the shortcuts at the top of the window.

  • Remember to be logged in to your external account in order to import data from it.
  • If you’re using a Pro, Business or Enterprise account and connect a Google Sheet or JSON file you can choose to automatically update the chart at a specific time interval.’s chart interactivity is great for driving user engagement. One way of adding interactivity is by using radio buttons. Radio buttons allow you to summarize two charts in one, making it easier for the reader to compare and contrast information.

  • To add radio buttons, insert a new sheet by clicking the ”+” icon on the bottom right corner and add data to the new sheet. Both charts must be the same type. For certain chart types, you can just add a column in the same sheet to create them. Look at the dummy data in each chart to understand how to structure your data.
  • To manage the sheets, click on the ”^” icon. You can delete the sheet, clear all data, duplicate it, give it a new name or move it to a new position.
